Over four years at iLEAD, you will:
Get Ready for Work
- Set career goals.
- Focus on developing soft skills – communication, teamwork, problem solving, etc. – you’ll need to succeed in the workplace.
- Build a resume and “elevator pitch” about yourself.
- Develop a digital portfolio to show employers what you’ve learned and can do.
- Learn how to interview for jobs and practice with employers.
- Job shadow experts in your field
- Explore career options, set goals, align your education plan to what is required to succeed in your career.
- Establish a network as you meet with mentors.
- Earn certifications that will make you more competitive in the job market.
- Learn to present your work and get feedback from employers in iLEAD’s annual Project Showcase
- Participate in career-related clubs: Technology Student Association, HOSA, eSports, iMake, NHS
Get Ready for College
- Earn your first college degree in high school – at Jefferson Community & Technical College in Carrollton
- Learn to follow a syllabus, advocate for yourself with professors, manage college level coursework.
- Visit many of Kentucky’s colleges and universities.
- Research colleges and degree programs aligned to your career goals.
- Develop a plan to pay for college – maximizing the associate degree you earn in high school to reduce time and cost to a degree.
- Get support with college and scholarship applications.
Get Ready for Life
- Graduate with a plan for success in life after high school
- Set goals for your future.
- Develop time management and project management skills.
- Serve your community in multiple service projects.
- Get support from your teachers who will support you as you pursue your dreams.
